Making a Fishbone Diagram
A fishbone diagram is simple to draw, or you can utilize an online template.
Your fishbone diagram begins with a problem or issue. This is the “head” of the fish in a few words or a short sentence.
Then, draw a long arrow to represent the fish’s backbone.
The first “bones” will be drawn directly from the backbone, in the shape of little diagonal lines traveling right-to-left. These are the most likely or all-encompassing reasons of your problem.
Create smaller bones that contribute information and detail by branching off from each of these original bones.
When finished, your fishbone diagram should offer you a broad notion of what the root causes of the problem you’re experiencing could be, allowing you to rank them or select the most likely.
