For example, if a patient has been prescribed 50 mg of Drug Z and the tablets are 10 mg each, then the patient’s dose would be 5 tablets. The calculation for this is:
Prescribed mg x 1 Unit/ #mg = Dose (# of units to take, where units represent tablets or capsules)
For this example, the calculation would be:
50 mg x 1 tablet/ 10mg = 5 tablets
